The Calgary Stampede is a
not-for-profit community organiza-
tion that preserves and promotes
western heritage and values. The
Stampede contributes to the qual-
ity of life in Calgary and southern
Alberta through its world-renowned
10-day Calgary Stampede, year-
round facilities, products and serv-
ices and agricultural programs that
foster understanding of the agri-
cultural industry. All revenue gen-
erated is reinvested into Calgary
Stampede programs and facilities.
The Stampede is supported
by more than 2,000 year-round,
highly motivated volunteers.
“Everyone in Canada talks about
how many volunteers Calgary
has, and that’s because many of
them started their volunteer lives at
the Stampede,” says Brookman.
The volunteers are also well-
known for their positive atti-
tudes, says Kimball.
“The number one thing peo-
ple say is that they come to
work here because they like
the people they work with —
both staff and volunteers.”
